It strikes me that we cannot rely for our security on the Russians remaining incompetent and corrupt. There's an intense process of natural selection currently underway in Ukraine which is likely to see an ever more capable rump remain from thinned-out conscript units. The whole country has an opportunity to learn from this fiasco and make their processes work efficiently in future.

It's my opinion that we need to thwart any such learning process by cutting off the chain of tutelage: Wipe out the combat units altogether, so that they cannot teach a new generation of recruits. Especially their artillerists. Otherwise the next war might not be so badly run.
